We first met Dani and Gerard in October of 2018. Their special day was set for August 2020, and they were so excited to officially become Mr and Mrs Healey after an incredible 10 years together. As we know by now, COVID-19 had other plans for them that meant we had to reschedule their beautiful day a total of twice for a total of three dates. By now we are experts at date changes, but it never gets easier watching our lovely couples go through the heartbreak that was unfortunately quickly becoming commonplace. Dani and Gerard handled these changes with grace and looked forward to early December 2021 as (hopefully) their official and final wedding day.
And then it arrived! December 2nd 2021 was the day we had all been waiting for. We could not have been more excited to be a part of this long-awaited and unbelievable moment. Before Dani made her entrance, guests were treated to a performance unlike any other. The sassiest and funniest flower man I have seen to date waltzed down the aisle, showering guests in rose petals and setting the tone for the rest of the day – we knew we were in for lots of smiles and a few tears.
My favourite moment of weddings is admittedly a cliché. When the groom sees his bride for the first time and he can’t help but lay all his feelings out in front of her. Gerard had waited for this moment for so long, and it was finally here. Dani was accompanied down the aisle by her dad (who was cracking jokes the whole way down to stop them both from crying), and Gerard had eyes for no one but her. His smile encapsulated every ounce of adoration, every drop of love. His raw display of devotion was infectious and when the tears spilled over his eyes, the rest of their guests followed suit.
Their beautiful ceremony was followed by a champagne tower, and a stroll around the gardens of The Convent and Circa 1876. The newlyweds didn’t go one minute without a grin or a giggle for the rest of the day and Nicole Butler Photography captured some of the most wonderful reflections of this - they still make us gasp. Dani looked stunning and Gerard wasn’t the only one who couldn’t keep his eyes off her.
Our very own Louise emceed the reception and raved about the beautiful speeches given by friends and family. From ‘It’s so emotional today even the cake has tiers’ to ‘now Dani and Gerard, look into each other’s eyes and know that this is statistically the person most likely to kill you’, there was not a moment when someone wasn’t laughing or crying (or snacking on the delicious, personalised candy favours).
A big congratulations to Dani and Gerard on becoming Mr and Mrs Healey; we wish you all the love on starting your new lives together!
