On the 28th of March we returned to the picturesque Peterson House for the beautiful wedding of Leigh & Becky Brown. Their original plan was a tropical wedding in Fiji which had to be postponed due to COVID-19, like so many peoples’ plans. They decided that rather than wait indefinitely to tie the knot overseas, they would celebrate right here in the Hunter Valley, which is where Hunter Events came in. Many of our couples live in Sydney and simply don’t have the time to get away to the Hunter again and again to make their own informed decisions, so we guide them and use our local industry expertise to ensure they get exactly what they envision without blowing the budget.
When we met Mr & Mrs Brown-to-be they had booked their venue (Peterson House), photography/videography (Salt Studio) and a handful of other suppliers but needed help completing their vision with the finishing touches. They were dreaming of a modern, romantic, white and rose gold extravaganza in the Chapel and Marquee at Peterson House. Charlotte set about creating their 2-page mood board to capture their look and feel and suddenly their dream was coming to life – facilitating that process is part of why we love what we do!
Whilst we booked in many styling aspects for the couple, when we’re going to be there on the day to coordinate a wedding, we’re more than happy to have bits and pieces dropped off to us in the days prior. This includes items directly from our suppliers! We adore working with Sarah from Pink Swann and in the week before the Brown Wedding, boy did we get a rose gold delivery! From the custom wishing well to the individually laser-cut rose gold metallic place-markers of each and every guest’s name, sprinkles of rose gold were everywhere. Charlotte carefully sorted through and grouped all 80 odd of these by table number ahead of time to make the reception setup as smooth and efficient as possible. The little things like this are why we say time and time again hire a wedding planner! Without one, the Bride or Groom would only be adding stress to their already nerve-wracking wedding week. Instead, Becky got to focus on things like perfecting her spray tan, which should be the biggest concern a Bride has before her wedding! Becky was so relaxed she entrusted us with setting the tables as we saw fit, with tiny adjustments like using drop-napkins polishing the final reception look.
Becky and her beautiful little girls stole the show before they even made it inside the Chapel at Peterson House. Becky was so eager for her wedding that she arrived at the Chapel 10 minutes early! No Bride of mine is having her grand entrance ruined or being spotted by guests before the ceremony is underway! Thankfully she got to wait in style and comfort in her transport from Arrive First Class, safely concealed behind tinted windows. Between her gorgeous updo by Bridal Hair Culture, makeup from Makeup by Sam, gown from Sweethearts Bridal Boutique, bedazzled heels from Christian Louboutin and an elegant bouquet from Hunter Valley Bouquets, Becky looked every part the modern princess. A reveal far too special to be spoilt by early arrival!
The ceremony was incredibly touching, officiated by one of their close family friends (Victor Moore) who had prepared a very personalised and emotional script. They told me weeks before the wedding that they wanted to have a picture-perfect first kiss as Mr & Mrs Brown and with some pre-wedding coaching and encouragement – PRACTICE and make it last 30 seconds! – it was their time to shine! The howls and cheers from their friends and family said it all and the coaching paid off, giving The Salt Studio time to catch the perfect shot to keep forever.
I absolutely love when I’m the MC for our couples’ weddings and thankfully that’s exactly what Mr & Mrs Brown entrusted me with for the evening once my ceremony and setup duties were complete. It was a truly magical evening, complete with a gorgeous ‘happily ever after’ neon sign hanging behind the bridal table. Love Glows completed the ambience with their popular giant letters placed strategically just outside the marquee, visible through the clear wall.
Mr & Mrs Brown’s first dance as a married couple was absolutely breathtaking with indoor fireworks and fog. You could tell from their faces that they were dancing in the clouds and with the special effects they looked like they really were! Guests partied the night away to the sounds of Mane Events DJs, got snap-happy thanks to Vogue Mirror Booths and enjoyed next-level-good cake from one of our favourite suppliers, Dragonfly Cakes.
All in all it was a magical evening and we wish Mr & Mrs Brown all of the happiness for their adorable family – plus we’re crossing our fingers that they soon get to welcome a little boy to their family!
