When rain is forecast for your special day, hope and wishful thinking only gets you so far. With any luck it clears up and you’re blessed with a gorgeous sunny day, though that isn’t always the case. What happens next really comes down to your attitude towards the day – you can either embrace the conditions or you let the weather dampen your spirits and your wedding day (pun intended).

Brendon & Josie Simpson are the perfect example of a gorgeous young couple who embraced the weather and refused to let rainy conditions ruin their wedding day. We had been working with the couple to create their dream wedding since December 2019 and unfortunately our crystal ball couldn’t have predicted the weather that far in advance.

The couple were committed to their Plan A for the ceremony at The Bath House Gardens so Hunter Events advocated for Josie & Brendon’s vision to ensure their ceremony was everything they had dreamt of, if a little soggy. Josie looked absolutely stunning in her gorgeous gown from Karen Willis Homes Bridal, primped and preened to perfection by Sarah Bezzina and Casey Perrin. Under the beautiful vine-clad rotunda at The Bath House Gardens Josie met her love Brendon, looking dashing in his cream suit from T.K. Menswear.

The rain only added to the beauty of the moment, the rotunda becoming the perfect love nest for their photos. Under clear umbrellas they exchanged vows and rings from Heirloom Jewellers and Michael Hill and it was time to party! …after Hunter Events performed some quick emergency sewing and cleaning of the wedding dress, which had broken a strap due to the weight of the water it collected while getting photos.

If we had to pick a favourite moment from the wedding captured by Bryce Noone Photography and Everlast Videography, it would be the stunning photos of the couple on the jetty at The Bathhouse Gardens, cuddled up together under their shared umbrella. Rain gently sprinkled on the water behind the couple as they absolutely glowed in newlywed bliss.

Walka Water Works served as the perfect backdrop for the Simpsons to kick on the celebration of their love with their nearest and dearest. The room was beautifully adorned with florals from The Flower Alley and furniture and lighting from Whimsical Fox. Guests were treated to a delicious dinner from Classic Catering Co. and drinks from Eventful Bartending while partying the night away to the sounds of Dan Runchel Music. As always, Mel Rose Cakes came through with the goods and their wedding cake was amazing. The photobooth from OMG Booths was a massive hit with great photos for the couple to cherish.

Special little touches at your wedding are the ones you will remember forever. One we absolutely loved about Brendon & Josie’s wedding was their guest book. They cast tradition aside and instead used Jenga blocks, with every guest getting to write their little note on a block that the couple can keep forever. Another was the handmade mirror seating chart that Josie’s mum made. Some memories that last forever aren’t quite so planned but still get immortalised in photos, like the Groomsmen all lined up next to each other peeing in the bushes because they couldn’t be bothered walking to the toilets.

So many laughs were had at the wedding of Mr & Mrs Simpson - we wish them every happiness for the future and know they’ll have many more laughs ahead.
