They say that marriages need to be built on solid foundations of resilience and understanding. Matt & Vic were tested on their resilience well before their wedding day – like so many of our couples – when COVID-19 up-ended their plans for their dream day. Few understood the full impact of the pandemic as well as Vic, being a Nurse herself.
We first met the beautiful young couple in 2019, fresh from a Bali proposal and on track to build their perfect life together with their fur baby Roxy along for the ride. They had already found their dream venue in Saltwater Restaurant Fingal Bay, coming to us for wedding planning and guidance bringing all of the integral details to make the day perfect as well as On Day Management for peace of mind. Initially the date was set for May 2020, though it was not to be thanks to COVID-19. We helped the couple through their incredibly emotionally draining realisation that they would have to wait, somewhat indefinitely, to officially be united in front of their loved ones.
With plans on hold and Vic on the front line as a Nurse, we worked with every supplier and shuffled every tiny detail to a new date, holding out hope that by then they would be able to make their dream come true. As the new date - 27th of November 2020 – drew closer and with COVID-19 restrictions changing day to day, we all crossed our fingers and pushed ahead, uncertain of exactly what their wedding could look like. We comforted the couple through this process and lifted their spirits as best we could, hoping beyond hope that we could safely pull off the day they had been dreaming of.
The day finally arrive and although there were challenges (only the Bridal Party allowed to dance, guests from interstate and overseas unable to attend, caps on numbers indoors, limitations on venue access for setup), the sun shone down on the couple for their beautiful coastal wedding. We worked with the venue to make the event feel as special and unaffected as possible. Negotiating earlier access with the venue, we set about coordinating all of their wonderful vendors and ensuring every detail was flawless.
The couple opted for a ‘first look’, a fairly untraditional but very special moment where the Bride & Groom share an intimate moment before the ceremony. They were joined by their parents, Bridal Party & Groomsmen by the beach for their last unwed photos together. Samuel Jacob Photography and Love Reel Videography captured the sweet moment, something they will be able to look back on for years.
Gorgeous florals from A Beautiful Occasion adorned the deck and arbour at Saltwater Restaurant as Matt waited anxiously at the altar for his beautiful bride. Vic always looks stunning but was absolutely glowing on the day, with hair by Hollywood Hair & Beauty and makeup by a friend of the bride and a gorgeous intricate boho-inspired white April gown.
Of course, the wedding wouldn’t have been complete without Roxy – donning an adorable white tulle tutu, white plaited collar and lead combo and collar florals matching Vic’s bouquet she was there with her mum every step of the way down the aisle. Another incredibly important person there with Vic as she walked down the aisle was her beloved Dad, who despite a serious illness, made it not only to the postponed wedding but down the aisle with his daughter to give her away.
Matt & Vic officially became Mr & Mrs Brougham thanks to their fantastic Celebrant - Andrew Whitebread-Brown – and it was time for the couple to finally let their hair down knowing that with our help they had made it to their wedding day and were officially united as husband and wife! The boho-inspired reception with touches of greenery, white and timber was complimented by special personal touches, like custom ‘VB’ beer logo stubby holders with ‘Victoria’, ‘Matt’ & ‘Brougham’ replacing the usual ‘Victoria Bitter’. Love Glows continued the theme with giant ‘V & M’ letters on the dance floor. Guests partied the night away to the tunes of Dan Runchel Music, celebrating the love of their dear friends Matt & Vic!
We’re so glad we could help this gorgeous couple make it down the aisle in 2020 and look back on their wedding day with fond memories. We wish Matt, Vic & Roxy all of the love In the world and a future filled with happiness (and maybe even human babies one day!)
